Corporate Responsibility

Northgate’s approach is all about our commitment to ensuring that corporate responsibility is embedded into our company culture, our business performance
and our relationships with people and communities across the world. Our key priorities are promoting sustainability in the markets in which we operate,
respecting and involving the people with whom we work and engage, and safeguarding the environment for future generations.

Our Activities

This year the Company began the roll out of an ambitious programme – ActNow!

ActNow is a programme that believes each one of us can do something now, however small, to help deliver value and build sustainable and healthy communities.

ActNow is Northgate’s innovative response to the sustainability challenge. It seeks to embed sustainable practice into the Company’s day-to-day activities and into the relationships that it has with its wide and diverse set of stakeholders. ActNow is not
a one-off initiative. It is a long-term programme designed to meet the challenge of building a successful corporate responsibility.

Our Governance of Corporate Responsibility

The Corporate Responsibility Innovation Group, established this year, is responsible for managing ActNow across the Group. Its task is to develop innovative responses and actively achieve sustainable outcomes for the benefit of the Company and the global communities in which it operates.

Led by Dave Meaden, the Group meets on a monthly basis. Its responsibilities include:

  • involving employees in the embedding of corporate responsibility practice;
  • overseeing the establishment of an effective measurement system and
    developing shared targets and performance indicators; and
  • reviewing services, identifying areas for improvement and establishing timetables for action.

The Company’s Corporate Responsibility Taskforce is composed of champions who represent senior management across all business units to develop the corporate responsibility framework as part of a collective exercise involving the whole Company. It meets on a six monthly basis to provide information about divisional initiatives, to comment on and provide feedback and support for the work of the Group and to drive through implementation at a business and operational level.
