Orla Leonard 26-Apr-2012 - [Northgate Managed Services] Newtownabbey based Northgate Managed Services (Northgate), one of the UK’s leading ICT service providers, is today toasting its success having scooped the ‘Outstanding Service to Business’ gong at the prestigious Belfast Telegraph Business Awards, at a gala ceremony held in Belfast’s Ramada Hotel. The award recognises Northgate’s successful business to business relationships which enhance the business efficiency and productivity of its clients. Customers benefit from interacting with highly skilled technical teams allowing strong, valued partnerships to be formed. Despite the tough economic trading conditions, Northgate has delivered strong organic growth across its main business sectors during 2011. It secured more than 80 new customer accounts, increased its revenue by 21% to just over £131m and also strengthened its position outside of Northern Ireland by winning a series of contracts including a £19m project with NHS health boards in Scotland. Northgate has continued this momentum in the first quarter of 2012 winning the highly sought after Education Network Northern Ireland project. The five year, £170m contract will see Northgate design, implement, manage and support Europe’s first Education Cloud environment for schools in Northern Ireland. The company has invested in its staff and services in order to ensure its service delivery and quality remains high. This includes a commitment to further develop relationships with key technology partners including Dell, Cisco and Microsoft. Commenting on the award, Andy Ross, Chief Executive, Northgate Managed Services said, “This award is a fantastic achievement for the company, especially when you consider the calibre of the other applicants. It recognises the tremendous effort made by everyone involved in helping to position Northgate as one of Northern Ireland’s most successful and innovative companies. “The rationale behind the award is perhaps the most pleasing element for me. To be selected by a panel of industry judges as the company that has done the most to deliver outstanding service to its clients is a great endorsement of our professionalism, but also of the way in which we engage with each of our customers.” John Simpson, chair of the judging panel, said: “This award is seen by some businesses as being more difficult than others to convincingly articulate. Nevertheless, Northgate Managed Services had a compelling and convincing account of support in advanced knowledge based services which is world class. Their recent new business contracts ranging from services to the education network in Northern Ireland to others in education and health across England and Scotland are building a business with a highly regarded reputation.” Northgate, also a finalist in the Belfast Telegraph “Excellence in the Development and Leadership” category, employs over 1,150 staff across the UK and is Northern Ireland’s largest indigenous IT services company. The Belfast Telegraph ‘Outstanding Service to Business’ award follows on the heels of Northgate being named the ‘IT Supplier of the Year’ at the British Computer Society and Computing UK Industry Awards and the winner of the ‘BETT 2012 ICT Company of the Year’.
