Public Services
03-Apr-2008 - [Northgate Public Services]

Following the acquisition of Northgate Information Solutions by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR), the company has announced that it plans to strengthen and expand the public sector business in local government, education, criminal justice and health through a combined programme of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Private equity firm KKR acquired Northgate Information Solutions on 5th March 2008 by means of a scheme of arrangement. Following the acquisition, KKR controls 100 per cent of Northgate’s shares. Northgate’s shares were delisted from the London Stock Exchange on 7th March 2008. This followed the announcement of the recommended acquisition by the Boards of NIS Acquisitions Limited (a company controlled by certain funds advised by KKR) and Northgate Information Solutions plc, made on 21st December 2007. The deal completed in accordance with the original timetable at an enterprise valuation of £1.1 billion.

Chris Stone, Chief Executive Officer of Northgate Information Solutions, said today: “KKR’s investment approach makes them an ideal partner for Northgate. We share a common business philosophy for long-term value creation. The opportunities for us to expand our public sector technology services business under their ownership are extremely exciting. Under our new ownership we shall continue the drive for public sector excellence through innovation and the development of new forms of performance partnerships with our public sector partners.”
